This current production of My Kitchen Fools celebrates 20 years of successful MBM Fringe shows at MAXIM’S Wine Bar on the Norwood Parade.  It would be safe to assume then that the ‘recipe’ being used at this venue serves up the goods – and it does.  The current production of is fun, fast-moving and thoroughly enjoyable.

Starring Matt Byrne, Stefanie Rossi, Marc Clement and Nikki Martin, with choreography by Sarah Williams and music by Paul Sinkinson, written, directed and produced by Matt Byrne, My Kitchen Fools is, of course, an irreverent and light-hearted take on the popular television series. It is a fast paced show with the cast playing multiple roles with quick character and costume changes.  We meet Jamie Bolivar, Nigella’s Awesome, Saggy Beer to name a few, plus the mix of  ‘contestants’, my favourites being the Greek Ya Ya and her son. We also meet the people from Gogglebox who give their expert views on what they are watching ‘on the box’.

It is quite astounding how the cast remember who they are given the quick character changes, let alone the songs and script– they manage to do it without missing a beat. A  very talented bunch who work seamlessly together as an ensemble. There are plenty of laughs and of course some audience participation. The recipe for success for this type of revue, theatre restaurant type show is tried and true and Matt Byrne uses every possible ingredient.  If you’re looking for some stress relief and a fun night with lots of laughs, put it in your diary. Maxim’s Wine Bar will look after you with drinks to ensure a great night.
