The Flick
3 March 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Roles
SAM – stage age 35, shaved head, Caucasian. He often wears a beat-up Red Sox cap. He used to be very into heavy metal.
AVERY – stage age 20, coloured, bespectacled. He wears red, slightly European-looking sneakers. In love with the movies.
ROSE – stage age 24, Causcasian. Sexually magnetic despite the fact that (or partly because?) her clothes are baggy, she never wears make-up and her hair is dyed forest green.
The Play
In a run-down movie theatre in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35mm film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lack lustre , second-run movies on the screen. With keen insight and a finely tuned comic eye, The Flick is an hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.
