Following our highly successful season of “The Gondoliers” we are proud to present as our second production for 1986 the delightful but rarely performed “Princess Ida”. As the Gilbert & Sullivan Society we are devoted to presenting all of Gilbert & Sullivan’s works and not just the better known operas and so “Princess Ida” is a fitting grand finale for our 50th Birthday Celebrations.

It is an opera which challenges the traditional role of women. It contains all the elements which make Gilbert & Sullivan so popular – humour, wit, delightful music (some of Sullivan’s best) and the usual complicated plot.
