Little Shop of Horrors

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination! Our production is open to anyone of age 14+ as cast or crew.

Role Information: a female street urchin who functions as a participant in the action and as part of the Greek Chorus outside it. She’s young, hip, smart, and one of the only people in the cast who really knows what’s going on.

Role Information: This role is for a strong individual and/or small group who would like to be on stage, but isn’t sure if anything fits them! MUST be willing to sit for long periods of time, practice comedic timing, and enjoys a bit of footwork.

IMPORTANT: you must book a compulsory group ensemble audition. If you would also like a solo audition, please request one in the additional information section. All audition materials will be emailed to you. Individual audition times will be emailed once confirmed.

Please bring any materials provided, as well as a water bottle and your audition form. Please wear comfortable clothes (no jeans) and closed-in shoes or character heels. You may also wish to bring a snack if you are waiting for an individual audition.

Group Audition (approx. 1 hour)
Dancing:
You will be taught a simple combination by our choreographer. Strong dancers will also be encouraged to improvise at the end. Please wear appropriate footwear and comfortable clothing. The dance audition should go for approximately 15 minutes.

Singing:
You will be given the sheet music for a section of “Be A Dentist” containing harmonies in your audition materials. During the group audition, you will be taught one of these harmonies and will then be required to sing as a group. Before your audition please determine which part is most suitable for your voice and note this on your application form. No further preparation is expected but resources will be made available should you wish to practice further. The singing audition should go for approximately 45 minutes.

TENOR 1 G3 to A4 (optional down to E3)
TENOR 2 E3 to F#4
BARITONE C3 to F4 (BASS down to F2)

Individual Auditions (approx. 20 minutes)

Chiffon (ALTO – from Ab3 up)
Please prepare the marked sections of “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Finale”. You will be asked to sing sections from these songs on your own including any harmony lines. You will then be asked to sing with the other two Urchins. Finally, you will be given a small excerpt of the script to perform with our two Urchins. Please note this role requires a strong, confident harmony singer, and this aspect will be tested vigorously in your audition.

Mr. Mushnik (BARITONE – G2 to F4)
Please prepare the marked sections of “Ya Never Know”, “Mushnik & Son”, and “Finale”. These sections include some harmonies. You will be asked to sing these sections with the aid of our Musical Director. You will then get a chance to workshop a scene with our team and some select cast. This scene will be provided on the day.
