On August 19th I attended and spoke at a seminar on the topic of “VOLUNTEERS IN THE ARTS”. The seminar was organised by the Volunteer Centre of S.A. Inc., and a full report will appear in next month’s issue.
Our fund raising Quiz Night has been arranged for Saturday, October 18th. The Police Club in Adelaide was chosen as the venue because of its central location and it is hoped that we will see many of you there. You can arrange for teams of up to eight and tickets can be booked through Stan Shepherd on 298 7864. We have arranged some terrific prizes from businesses whose names appear in this edition.
On the topic of fund raising, the S.A. LIGHT OPERA SOCIETY has kindly donated 30 tickets for each of four performances to their show ‘WHITE HOURSE INN’. Many thanks to Bill Youde. (We are trying to raise funds to buy equipment in order to produce ENCORE in greater numbers and offer groups other services.)
Hopefully, starting in next month’s ENCORE we will feature reviews from our own critic and all the indications are that he will be travelling far and wide.
We have been asked to extend the deadline date for the submission of the list of scripts etc. There is a wealth of material coming in and for those participating in the scheme, it should be a list worth having. The absolute FINAL date is now SEPTEMBER 20TH.
