From the Editor

Firstly a bit of a whinge! Believe it or not, membership renewals are still forthcoming and some are even outstanding, but the problem is that we are only receiving the cheques.
What we would also like is the blue membership form which has your latest addresses and contact numbers on it. It has happened recently that one of the larger member group’s ENCORE was returned, because of an address change and we have to try to find out where they have gone. In a nutshell, please send in the form with your subscription.

Mail is still being sent to the Plympton Park address. Please advise your publicity officers of the new BRIGHTON address. At the time you receive this edition the old address will have ceased to be!

The Society had another successful workshop and, as mentioned in my last editorial, it was going to be an all day session and it was. The session started at 9:30 and conintued through to 5:30. I must admit that the pace slowed down a little after lunch because the participants had eaten so much! We would like to hold the classes on a more regular basis and for different skill levels (or should I say confidence). Again it is one of those things whereby we can be guided only by the response from our members. The response is only forthcoming in the information is passed on to group participants. This seems to be the major hurdle.

The Directors’ workshop is in limbo at the moment while we seek out a suitable tutuor. Our earlier intentions have not come to truition.

The Bicentennial One Act Play Festival will be held in the Bordertown Civic Centre on September 10 and 11. An invitation has been extended from the Bordertown Drama Group to any of our groups who may wish to go down and join in the fun.
Workshops are being conducted in the morning of the Saturday again in the afternoon. The performances are being held in the evening. Then, on the Sunday workshop on the plays from the night before have been organised finishing with a barbecue lunch at 12.30. Even if people don’t want to participate as performers it would provide an interesting diversion for a weekend. There is a variety of accommodation available and it is a pleasant drive. Further details are available if required.

There is a list of our members who give box office concessions to fellow members in this edition. If your group isn’t on the list maybe you haven’t paid your subs.
