The Met’s October production of ‘West Side Story’ by Laurents, Bernstein and Sondheim. This Tony Award winning musical is loosely based on the story of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ with the action being transferred to the gang laden streets of 1950s New York. Two rival gangs, The Jets and The Sharks, constantly seeking reasons to enact violence upon one another, are forced to reflect on the consequences of their prejudice and hatred.
