SUMMARY:Vincent in Brixton
DESCRIPTION:by Nicholas Wright \nDirected by Geoff Brittain \nThe outlines of Wright’s play Vincent in Brixton are rooted in fact. Vincent van Gogh arrived in London in May 1873\, aged 20. Not yet an artist\, he worked for the Dutch art dealer Goupil in a Covent Garden gallery. He lodged in Brixton\, South London with Ursula Loyer and her daughter Eugenie. Vincent’s love for Eugenie is not reciprocated. In imagining the relationships among the play’s characters Wright departs from the official record\, which is skimpy in any case. Vincent in Brixton is an absorbing drama that traces the transforming effects of love\, sex and youthful adventure on Vincent van Gogh’s still unformed talent\, portraying him as he might have been and supposing a poignant affair with his landlady… that may have happened in real life.   \nVincent in Brixton stars Nicole Rutty as Ursula Loyer\, Alex Whitrow as Vincent van Gogh\, Veronika Wlodarczyk as Eugenie Loyer\, Gabi Douglas as Anna van Gogh and James Fazzalari as Sam Plowman. \nSuitable for ages 15+ \nNOTE: Masks and evidence of Covid-19 vaccination (certificate or exemption) required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:The Pig Iron People
DESCRIPTION:It’s March 2nd\, 1996\, Federal Election day\, when troubled writer Nick moves into a history-filled halfway house in a small cul-de-sac in inner Sydney. The winds of conservative political change are blowing hard in Australia\, but satirist John Doyle’s moving\, funny and at times shocking play The Pig Iron People is not about politics. It’s an absorbing and sharply observed tale about different generations and how life\, love\, prejudice and memories impact the way we see ourselves and others. \nCast: Lindsay Dunn\, Brian Godfrey\, Nick Launchbury\, Leah Lowe\, Jack Robins\, Joanne St Clair\, Thomas Filsell and Deb Walsh. \nMature themes. Some coarse language. 15+
