SUMMARY:Skylight
DESCRIPTION:An outstanding LAURENCE OLIVIER and TONY AWARD Winning Play \nIn March 2020\, Verendus Theatrical were one week away from opening their production of SKYLIGHT when COVID-19 turned the lights out. With the support of Red Phoenix & Holden Street Theatres\, audiences will finally have the opportunity to see David Hare’s outstanding 1996 Laurence Olivier Award winning Play of the Year. \nKyra and Tom have none of the things In common that usually make for a fine romance. In age and attitude they’re separated by a forbidding gulf. And don’t getthem started on politics or especially cooking. \nYet as you watch them move magnetically toward and away from each other In this exquisitely balanced production\, you can‘ t help thinking that on some profound level these two were made to be together. And therein lies the tragedy. (The New York Times) \nThis tremendous play will make you shake your head\, laugh and smile as you recognise life as we know It\, love It\, and\, Impossibly try to avoid It. \nDirected by Tim Williams and featuring outstanding Adelaide actors Brant Eustice as Tom\, Alicia Zorkovic as Kyra and newcomer to Red Phoenix and Verendus Theatrical Jackson Barnard as Edward. \nWhere: Holden Street Theatres – The Studio\, 34 Holden Street\, Hindmarsh (next to Coopers Stadium) PARKING AVAILABLE \nTickets: $25.00 Full / $19.00 Concession / $21 Group Concession (6+) \nPurchase tickets online at www.holdenstreettheatres.com or call 8225 8888. Tickets at the door subject to availability

SUMMARY:Skylight by David Hare
DESCRIPTION:With regret we have to announce that we have postponed our production of “Skylight” due to the recent Corona Virus guidelines. \nOn a chilly night in London\, schoolteacher Kyra Hollis receives an unexpected visit from Tom Sergeant\, Kyra’s one-time boss and long-time lover. After the painful (and unresolved) dissolution of Tom and Kyra’s relationship\, the pair have pulled away from each other physically\, emotionally\, and ideologically\, as Tom continues to focus on his business ventures and Kyra donates her time to teaching the underprivileged. \nTom and Kyra grapple with each other\, moving between tender passion and vicious political polemics\, as the night darkens and the lines between past and present begin to blur.
