SUMMARY:Cloud 9
DESCRIPTION:A play by Caryl Churchill\nDirected by Rajiv Paranavithana \nCaryl Churchill’s Cloud 9 is a two-act play about modern constructions of identity. Act 1 is set in British colonial Africa during the Victorian era\, and introduces characters who are repressed – both internally and by the world around them. The play explores the damaging nature of rigid identity categorisation and sees their world turn to chaos. Act 2 shifts forward 100 years to London in 1979\, while the same characters only age 25 years. The audience observes how the shackles of oppression linger even in contemporary society. Cloud 9 challenges traditional notions of gender\, race\, and sexuality\, adopting elements of surrealism and epic theatre and using a non-traditional casting approach. \nStarring: Ashi Mashoof\, Charlie Milne\, Eryn Kralj\, Lelum Rathnayake\, Mary McAuliffe\, Oswin Kwan\, Regan Holmes. \nCONTENT WARNING: Child abuse\, sexual references\, mentions to domestic violence\, racism\, sexism\, and creepy dolls. \nTICKETS\nGeneral admission: $15.00\nConcession: $10.00 \nPERFORMANCES\nWednesday 3 April\, 7:30pm\nThursday 4 April\, 7:30pm\nFriday 5 April\, 7:30pm\nSaturday 6 April\, 7:30pm

SUMMARY:THE MATHEMATICS OF LONGING
DESCRIPTION:THE MATHEMATICS OF LONGING\nBY SUZIE MILLER\nDirected by Matt Monti \n‘Which bit do you love the most – the beginning\, when everything seems possible\, or the end when you have learned something – even if it fails?’ \nAustralian playwright Suzie Miller weaves a story of heartache and longing that bends across time and space. Each ‘event’ is a piece of the puzzle\, revealing a portrait of love\, loss\, and the pristine beauty of mathematics. Drama\, poetry\, and physical theatre meet in the Theatre Guild Student Society’s 2021 premiere. \n‘Miller’s piece finds the beauty in science and in theory and translates that beauty onto the stage almost effortlessly. It’s raw\, it’s vulnerable and it’s smart and it tells us that even with uncertainty there is hope and that it’s okay not knowing the answer to all of the questions.’\n– Broadway World \nCast: Siena Noble\, Tommy Raets\, Veronika Wlodarczyk\, Ellie Schaefer\, Oswin Kwan\, Connor Duncan\, Taylor Fernandez\, Theo Papazis\, Airlie-Jade Windle \nBOOK: https://www.trybooking.com/BSLCH \nPoster design by Emily Savage.\nhttps://fb.me/e/TsZQsJHV
