SUMMARY:The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)
DESCRIPTION:And now for something completely different . . . \nFor their final production in their 50th-anniversary year\, The Stirling Players will present something completely different – The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)\, by Adam Long\, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield\, presenting all of Shakespeare’s plays and some sonnets in less than two hours.\nPart bawdy comedy\, part melodrama\, part parody\, this is a highly energetic\, irreverent and yet affectionate tribute to the one playwright whom absolutely everyone has heard of\, and many may even have read. \nThe Complete Works reflects a shift by The Stirling Players towards encouraging younger directors and seeking a greater contrast between the two shows that it produces each year. The aim is to have at least one which is more “serious” in the sense that the audience can identify with the emotions and dilemmas portrayed. The other can be more of a chance to lighten up and have a bit of fun.\nEven if it means that if some over-acting tragedian has to be stabbed with a retractable plastic sword and die on stage from a surfeit of Shakespearian quotations – Then\, forsooth\, so be it!

SUMMARY:Amy's View by David Hare
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning drama written by David Hare. Esme Allen is a well-known actress who is navigating the moment when the West End’s theatres are failing to offer actors a regular way of life. This sets in motion a running argument about the value of the arts which becomes inextricably bound up with marital relations\, love\, fidelity and integrity\n\nStirling Players’ production of “Amy’s View”\, directed by Tim Williams and Jan Farr.

SUMMARY:Cosi
DESCRIPTION:In the burnt-out theatre of a psychiatric hospital in the 1970s\, young director Lewis takes on Mozart’s ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ with a group of patients with no stage experience\, but plenty to say. They challenge Lewis on everything and he struggles to keep control. But as he hears their stories\, and sees them spreading their wings\, he begins to see things\, and his cast\, in a new light. Based on Louis Nowra’s own experience\, COSI is a very funny and moving tribute to the healing power of theatre.
