SUMMARY:Peace in our Time
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Noel Coward \nCreative Team: Presented by Stirling Players\nDirected by Geoff Brittain \n\nPeace in Our Time is a two-act play written in 1946 by Noël Coward. \nIt is a work of alternative history\, focusing on a group of Londoners in a pub close to Sloane Square\, after Nazi Germany has won the Battle of Britain and successfully invaded and occupied the United Kingdom.\nThe setting is the saloon bar of a London public house called The Shy Gazelle\, somewhere between Knightsbridge and Sloane Square. The time is November 1940. Britain has been conquered and occupied by Nazi Germany. The Shattock family run the Shy Gazelle\, with a clientele mostly of locals. The latter are in general ordinary British people\, resentful of the German occupation but\, to varying degrees\, resigned to it.\nThe play is unusual for its sombre tone\, being considerably darker than the comedic approach of most of Coward’s plays\, and takes inspiration from the real-life sufferings of French citizens during the German occupation of France. \n\nInformation Session: \n\nAudition Information: https://www.trybooking.com/CZFYJ \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:0\n\n\nDate:\n22/03/2025\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n0930 – 1630\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:0\n\n\nRole Name:\nAlma Broughton\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n35\n\n\nRole Information:\nwell-dressed talkative woman\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Information:\nPublican – an amiable\, gregarious man. SUMMARY:Sylvia
DESCRIPTION:A R Gurney‘s tale of love and canine connection is sure to tug at your heart strings\, unleash your emotions and make you rethink love\, loyalty and four-legged friends! \nMiddle aged Greg is tired of his job in finance and looking for meaning in life. He finds a cheeky & exuberant stray dog in the park bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. He takes an immediate liking to her and brings her home to meet his wife\, Kate. \nUnlike Greg\, Kate is not so thrilled by this ‘loveable’ canine that jumps\, slobbers\, & cheekily sits on the new couch. Her career is taking off and right now she does not need a ‘Sylvia’ in her life! But Kate remains unimpressed by Sylvia’s antics\, and tension rises between the couple as Sylvia becomes a significant part of their life. \nFollow the story as Sylvia causes chaos and Greg & Kate learn to compromise. \n[Please contact the ticket seller on 0488 746 951 for wheelchair tickets]\n‘Drop off’ parking is available at the front of the theatre. \nWelcoming warm fires and a complimentary sherry in the foyer.

SUMMARY:Hansard
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Simon Woods \nDirector: Sally Putnam \nSynopsis:   ‘Hansard’ is an intimate domestic drama about a long and troubled marriage. It is also a comedy about politics. \nThe set is a lovely country mansion in the Cotswolds. The time is a Saturday morning in the summer of 1988\, towards the end of the Thatcher years. It is the home of Tory cabinet member\, Robin Hesketh and his politically-opposed\, stay-at-home wife of 30 years\, Diana. \nThe play ends with a ‘delicate’\, heart-rending revelation. \nCharacters: \nRole Name:  Robin Hesketh         Gender: Male        Stage Age: 50s \nRole Information:  A junior minister in Margaret Thatcher’s Tory government. He is a product of his upper class upbringing and proud of the part he has played in the recent passing of controversial legislation relating to homosexuality. He essentially considers himself a ‘decent’\, well-bred\, well-educated man with absolutely unquestioning self-confidence; privileged\, without being aware of it. \nRole Name:  Diana Hesketh     Gender: Female      Stage Age: 50s \nRole Information:        Robin’s long-suffering wife who is diametrically opposed to her husband’s political stance. She feels a combination of frustration and regret about what she could have achieved. \nProduction Website/ more information at: https://www.stirlingplayers.sct.org.au/ \nOther Information:     To book an audition time or for further information\, please contact John Graham at contactstirlingplayers@gmail.com. \nAudition Contact Name:        John Graham \nAudition Contact Email:         contactstirlingplayers@gmail.com \nAudition Contact Phone Number:    0404555808

SUMMARY:The Explorers Club
DESCRIPTION:The prestigious Explorers Club in London 1879 is in crisis. The Acting President wants to admit a woman and the bartender is terrible. True\, this female candidate is brilliant\, beautiful and has discovered a legendary Lost City\, but the decision to let in a woman could shake the very foundations of the British Empire\, and how do you make such a decision without a decent drink? \nA fast-paced farce about science\, ego\, passion and romance\, ‘The Explorers Club’ is quick witted\, vibrant and energetic. The writing channels elements of ‘Blackadder’\, twisting historic realism with absolute fantasy. This play has a beating\, silly heart that audiences are sure to love.

SUMMARY:The Explorers Club
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Nell Benjamin \nCreative Team: Director: Emily Currie \n\nLondon\, 1879. The prestigious Explorers Club is in crisis: their acting president wants to admit a woman\, and their bartender is terrible. True\, this woman is brilliant\, beautiful\, and has discovered a legendary Lost City\, but the decision to let in a woman could shake the very foundations of the British Empire\, and how do you make such a decision without a decent drink? \nThe play\, written in 2013\, paints a satirical picture of 1880s science and exploration in a farcical setting. Emily’s ‘vision’ for the play is in the tradition of a farce. Extraordinary statements and actions that come thick and fast\, played straight for comedy. \nThe play contains basic choreographed physical movement (not dance) for most characters. \nAudience: Aimed at adults\, the play is suitable for over 12 yrs and families to attend (PG minimal foul language)\, comical violence\, and alcohol consumption used for slapstick. \n  \nAudition Information: www.stirlingplayers@sct.org.au \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:0\n\n\nDate:\n30/09/2023\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n1.00 – 4.00pm\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:0\n\n\nRole Name:\nLucius Fretway (age 40-60)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n40+\n\n\nRole Information:\nBotanist – gentle and thoughtful\, a romantic at heart (44 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nPhyllida Spotte-Hume (age 40-60) / Countess Glamorgan (double with Phyllida)\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n40+\n\n\nRole Information:\nPhyllida: Anthropologist – spry\, quick witted\, open and flexible (25 Pages)\nCountess: Twin of Phyllida – Entitled\, Posh\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:2\n\n\nRole Name:\nHarry Percy\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n30s\n\n\nRole Information:\nExplorer – cad and not a thinker (39 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:3\n\n\nRole Name:\nProfessor Cope (age 30-60)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n30+\n\n\nRole Information:\nHerpetologist – Sincere\, happy to be invited\, loyal (33 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:4\n\n\nRole Name:\nProfessor Walling (age 30-60)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n30+\n\n\nRole Information:\nZoologist – Sensitive\, cheerful\, loyal and sweet (34 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:5\n\n\nRole Name:\nLuigi (any age over 18)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n18+\n\n\nRole Information:\nNaKong Tribesman – inquisitive\, optimistic\, agile (33 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:6\n\n\nRole Name:\nProfessor Slone (age 40-70)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n40+\n\n\nRole Information:\nArcheo-theologist – Serious\, straight-laced (39 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:7\n\n\nRole Name:\nSir Humphries (any age over 18)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n18+\n\n\nRole Information:\nPrivate Secretary to Queen – Austere\, intimidating (18 pages)\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:8\n\n\nRole Name:\nBeebe & Irish Assassin (double with Beebe) (any age over 18)\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n18+\n\n\nRole Information:\nBeebe: Explorer – Intense\, quick (7 pages)\n\n\n\n\nMore Information at: www.stirlingplayers.sct.org.au\nFurther information can be obtained from the Director\, Emily Currie at Emily.M.Currie@gmail.com. \n\nContact: John Graham\ncontactstirlingplayers@gmail.com\n0404 555 808

SUMMARY:Accidental Death of an Anarchist
DESCRIPTION:Written to show up and send up institutional corruption after an actual event\, Dario Fo’s 1970 farce ‘Accidental Death of an Anarchist’ remains relevant\, allowing us to laugh in the face of high level cover ups. \nThe play begins with a sly yet charming ‘maniac’ being interrogated at Milan police headquarters. By impersonating a range of characters including a judge\, he outwits bumbling police and begins to expose the truth behind a recent ‘accidental’ death in custody of a political activist.
