SUMMARY:Puberty Blues
DESCRIPTION:Based on the novel by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey \nAdapted for stage by Zoe Muller \nPuberty Blues is an Australian classic coming of age story following the lives of two teenage girls\, Debbie and Sue\, in the 70’s surfing scene. Their lives revolve around male surfers\, panel vans\, straight-leg Levis\, skipping school\, getting wasted and fitting in. When Debbie and Sue finally get accepted into the Greenhills Surfer gang\, their lives get turned upside down as they are forced to grow up much sooner than they should. Puberty Blues is a raw\, disturbing and honest portrayal of adolescence exactly as it was in the 1970’s. \n“The script is excellent. The dialogue is natural and funny\, and it captures the slang and and the mindset of the era beautifully. Deadset\, it does.” – Glam Adelaide \n“Puberty Blues is a classic Australian story which (DTC) has been done proud…. This is a fresh new adaptation that should set up Deadset Theatre Company for many more successes in the future.”
