Captain Woolcot tries to run his household with regimental discipline\, but his rules and regulations are no match for his seven fun-loving children. The war of wills between the Captain and his troop of independent minded sons and daughters is tempered by gentle guidance of the children’s kindhearted Stepmother\, Esther. \nVivacious and unruly\, Judy is the ringleader and leads her six siblings into constant trouble. She is eventually sent away to boarding school by her father in an attempt to improve her behaviour. Judy is determined to return home at all costs. She finally makes it\, by train and on foot but has become ill during the difficult journey home. She needs to leave Sydney to recuperate and an invitation for Esther and the children to stay at her parent’s property ‘Yarrahappini’ provides a wonderful opportunity for a country holiday for them all. Surprisingly\, the Captain\, left alone at ‘Misrule’\, misses his family. \nA terrible tragedy reveals the true strength of the family’s love.

It will help you get a feel for the show.\nIf\, after the group reading you would like the Director to see an individual monologue from you\, please let us know when you come in to auditions. Monologues should be no longer than 1min. \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Nov. 20\, 21\, 22\, 23\, 27\, 28\, 29\, 30. \nREHEARSALS:  \nWe are trying an exciting new way of working by auditioning early and then getting actors to learn their lines before “real” rehearsals start. \nInitial rehearsals:   July 14th & 21st. It is a tough decision. \nWith the help of a golem who has been at the bottom of a hole in the ground for over two hundred years\, a pin fanatic and Junior Postman Groat\, he’s got to see that the mail gets through. In taking on the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore Company and a midnight killer\, he’s also got to stay alive.\nGetting a date with Adora Belle Dearheart would be nice\, too. \nIn the mad world of the mail\, can a criminal succeed where honest men have failed and died?\nPerhaps there’s a shot at redemption for a man who’s prepared to push the envelope…. \nCREW ROLES:\nIf you are not interested in acting but would like to help backstage or on FOH\, please attend at the audition time and have a chat to our Stage Manager\, Andrew Zeuner. DESCRIPTION:This fast paced British farce concerns a con artist who has duped the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. Just when he decides to kill off many of the imaginary dole recipients because matters are getting a bit too risky\, welfare investigators show up. To outwit the investigators\, the con artist enlists help from one of his real lodgers and from his Uncle George. \nThere will be a video campaign to market the play.\nActors will be required to record pieces to camera and participate in a video trailer for marketing on social media. To ensure this amazing play has a full audience\, all cast members will be encouraged to share video clips on social media channels. Each actor will experience growth not only on stage\, but will be gain camera performing experience as well. \nAssistant Director Needed:\nThe director will lean heavily on the AD in this production. We require the AD to attend every rehearsal and to not only record blocking and prompt but to run the full rehearsal while the director works individually with cast members or on video marketing strategy. SUMMARY:The Mikado
DESCRIPTION:The story of The Mikado revolves around a young fellow named Nanki-Poo who has banished himself from the little town of Titipu. Nanki-Poo\, it seems\, has fallen in love with a beautiful young lady called Yum-Yum. Unfortunately\, Yum-Yum is engaged to be married to her guardian\, the tailor Ko-Ko. \nHowever\, when Nanki-Poo hears that Ko-Ko has been condemned to death for the capital crime of flirting\, he hastily returns to Titipu\, only to learn that Ko-Ko has not only been granted a reprieve but has been promoted to the post of Lord High Executioner. \nApparently\, those in power\, wishing to slow down the rash of executions\, reason that since Ko-Ko was next in line for execution\, he can’t cut off anyone else’s head until he cuts off his own! \nThe Mikado\, however\, soon takes notice of the lack of executions in Titipu and decrees that if no executions take place within the time of one month\, the city shall be reduced to the status of a village. \nKo-Ko\, desperate to avoid cutting off his own head\, vows to find a substitute\, and as luck would have it\, just at that moment\, Nanki-Poo wanders onto the stage with a rope determined to take his own life rather than live life without his beloved Yum-Yum. \nKo-Ko immediately seizes on this opportunity and offers the young lad one month of luxurious living at the end of which he would be relatively painlessly decapitated.
