SUMMARY:Mary Poppins
DESCRIPTION:Written By: \nCreative Team: Director – Joe Russell\nMusic Director – Robert Young\nChoreographer – Mandy Russell \n\nMARY POPPINS – everyone’s favourite practically perfect nanny flies from the page and screen to the stage of the Shedley Theatre from 23rd to 25th October 2025 \nOne of the most beloved Disney films of all time comes to life in a spectacular stage adaptation that has captured hearts around the world. Set in London\, 1910\, the story begins with Bert\, the cheerful jack-of-all-trades\, who introduces us to the Banks family — and their need for a miracle. Enter Mary Poppins: with her signature blend of magic and common sense\, she turns the family’s world upside down (and maybe inside out). From chalk-drawing adventures to rooftop dances and heartfelt moments\, Mary helps the children — and their parents — rediscover the importance of family\, imagination\, and kindness. \nAnything can happen if you let it — and with Mary Poppins\, it certainly does! \n\nInformation Session: \n\nAudition Information: https://www.trybooking.com/DBWLO \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:0\n\n\nDate:\n21/06/2025\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n10:00 – 17:30\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:0\n\n\nRole Name:\nMary Poppins\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nJane and Michael Banks’s new nanny. She is extraordinary and strange\, neat and tidy\, delightfully vain yet particular\, and sometimes a little frightening but always exciting. She is practically perfect in every way and always means what she says. Looking to cast a mezzo soprano with strong top notes\, who can also move well.\nVocal range: Gb3-C6\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nBert\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nThe narrator of the story and a good friend to Mary Poppins. An everyman\, Bert has many occupations\, including hurdy-gurdy player\, sidewalk artist and chimney sweep. Bert watches over the children as well as the goings on in Cherry Tree Lane. He has charm\, speaks with a Cockney accent and is a song-and-dance man.\nVocal range: B2-F#4\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:2\n\n\nRole Name:\nGeorge Banks\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nThe father to Jane and Michael Banks\, is a banker to the very fiber of his being. Demanding “precision and order” in his household\, he is a pipe-and-slippers man who doesn’t have much to do with his children and believes that he had the perfect upbringing by his nanny\, the cruel Miss Andrew. His emotional armour\, however\, conceals a sensitive soul.\nVocal range: Bb2-Eb4\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:3\n\n\nRole Name:\nWinifred Banks\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nGeorge’s wife and Jane and Michael’s mother. A former actress\, she is a loving but distracted homemaker who is busy trying to live up to her husband’s desire to only associate with “the best people” as well as be the model wife and mother. She suffers from the conflicting feelings that she’s not up to the job of “being Mrs. Banks\,” yet\, she is\, and more. She has great warmth and simplicity to her tone.\nVocal range: A3-D5\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:4\n\n\nRole Name:\nJane Banks\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nThe high-spirited daughter of Mr. and Mr. Banks\, is bright and precocious but can be wilful and inclined to snobbishness. Looking to cast a younger performer for this role – around 10-12 years but this is flexible.\nVocal range: A3-F#5\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:5\n\n\nRole Name:\nMichael Banks\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nThe cute and cheeky son of Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Excitable and naughty\, he adores his father and tries to be like him. Both he and Jane misbehave in order to get the attention of their parents. Looking to cast a younger performer for this role – around 8-10 years but this is flexible.\nVocal range: A3-E5\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:6\n\n\nRole Name:\nMrs Brill\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nThe housekeeper and cook for the Banks family. Overworked and harrassed\, she’s always complaining that the house is understaffed. Her intimidating exterior is a cover for the warmth underneath. SUMMARY:2025 One Act Play Festival
DESCRIPTION:Three one-act plays presented by Galleon Theatre Group\, Deadset Theatre and St Judes Players… \n\nGalleon Theatre’s entry\, directed once again by Andrew Clark—nominated for his previous festival work (The Duck Variations in 2023 and The Last Act is a Solo in 2024)— Where Are You Going\, Hollis Jay? is a charming\, funny look at first love.\n\n\nHollis and Ellie are uni students who want to take their friendship further… but neither knows how to say it. The twist? We hear all their inner thoughts\, making for some beautifully awkward and hilarious moments!\n\n\nStarring Aled Proeve and Veronika Wlodarczyk\, with sound design by Warren McKenzie\, this one’s full of heart and humour. Don’t miss it!\n\n\nDeadset’s contribution is a gritty drama\, Ravaged\, based on the true stories of the Black Saturday Bushfires in Victoria\, 2009.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe cast for See if I Care\, St Jude’s Players‘ include Deborah Walsh\, Rhonda Grill\, Allison Scharber\, Kaila Barton and Vicky Horwood. Written by Cherry Vooght and directed by Norm Caddick\, it’s the story of two ordinary elderly women bound together in an unsentimental\, wearing relationship in which they talk in snatches\, think aloud and bicker without rancour. They depend on this time because it makes life bearable. \nA poignant story full of pathos\, memories and incidental chat; a beautiful tale.
