SUMMARY:STAGE KISS
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl brings her unique mix of lyricism\, sparkling humor\, and fierce intelligence to her romantic comedy Stage Kiss. When estranged lovers He and She are thrown together as romantic leads in a long-forgotten 1930s melodrama\, the line between off-stage and on-stage begins to blur. A “knockabout farce that channels Noel Coward and Michael Frayn” (Chicago Tribune)\, Stage Kiss is a thoughtful and clever examination of the difference between youthful lust and respectful love. Ruhl\, one of America’s most frequently produced playwrights\, proves that a kiss is not just a kiss in this whirlwind romantic comedy. “Wickedly clever. . . . Ruhl’s unique\, breezily elegant dialogue is fully present\, as is her pleasingly loopy logic.” – Variety “A lively blend of romantic comedy and backstage farce…Stage Kiss reminds us of how the artifice of theatre can stir emotions not just for those who create it\, but for those who attend it too.” \nWritten By : Sarah Ruhl \nDirected by : Sally Putnam \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou can book\n\neither by card IN PERSON at the Domain Box Office between 9.30am and 5pm Tuesday to Friday (not open Mondays)\nor by card by TELEPHONING the Domain Box Office on 8375 6855 between 9.30am and 5pm Tuesday to Friday (not open Mondays)

SUMMARY:The Rivals
DESCRIPTION:Written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan\nDirected by Matthew Chapman\n\nThe Adelaide Repertory Theatre is excited to announce that we will be returning LIVE to the ARTS Theatre in December for a limited season of three performances. With only 460 tickets available for the season\, they are selling fast and will sell out! Tickets are $20 each and must be pre-booked.\n\nPlease note the earlier start time of 7pm!\nWe have a strict COVID management plan which we must adhere to. We ask that you sit in your assigned chequerboard seating\, keep physically distanced from one another\, use the provided hand sanitiser and do not attend the theatre if you are sick.\n\nAbout the play:\nIt’s 1775. A swashbuckling hero. A romantic beauty. A tortured lover. A damsel in distress. A jealous rival. A social-climbing aunt. A tyrannical father.\nAll are set to explode in a trip down to Bath\, in this beautiful comedy of manners…as in bad manners. Richard Brinsley Sheridan was England’s first celebrity playwright: controversy and excitement followed him everywhere. In The Rivals he turns to his infamous elopement with one Elizabeth Linely (in which Sheridan himself was disowned by his parents and made to fight three duels from jealous suitors and nearly resulted in his own death\, into a romp full of sparkling wit\, larger than life characters\, and…a pineapple?\n

SUMMARY:Vincent in Brixton
DESCRIPTION:by Nicholas Wright \nDirected by Geoff Brittain \nThe outlines of Wright’s play Vincent in Brixton are rooted in fact. Vincent van Gogh arrived in London in May 1873\, aged 20. Not yet an artist\, he worked for the Dutch art dealer Goupil in a Covent Garden gallery. He lodged in Brixton\, South London with Ursula Loyer and her daughter Eugenie. Vincent’s love for Eugenie is not reciprocated. In imagining the relationships among the play’s characters Wright departs from the official record\, which is skimpy in any case. Vincent in Brixton is an absorbing drama that traces the transforming effects of love\, sex and youthful adventure on Vincent van Gogh’s still unformed talent\, portraying him as he might have been and supposing a poignant affair with his landlady… that may have happened in real life.   \nVincent in Brixton stars Nicole Rutty as Ursula Loyer\, Alex Whitrow as Vincent van Gogh\, Veronika Wlodarczyk as Eugenie Loyer\, Gabi Douglas as Anna van Gogh and James Fazzalari as Sam Plowman. \nSuitable for ages 15+ \nNOTE: Masks and evidence of Covid-19 vaccination (certificate or exemption) required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Twentieth Century
DESCRIPTION:By Ben Hecht & Charles MacArthur (2004 adaptation by Ken Ludwig). Broadway ballyhoo meets Hollywood hustle! This comedy is set on the luxury train\, The Twentieth Century Limited\, travelling from Chicago to New York’s Grand Central Station. Aboard are egomaniacal theatre producer Oscar Jaffe\, desperately in need of a hit show\, and his former paramour and protégé\, volatile actress Lily Garland\, who abandoned him for a Hollywood career. Oscar is determined to sign her for his new show. Lily is just as determined to ignore his advances\, professional and personal. Trying to make sense of the chaos are his long-time and long-suffering assistants Webb and O’Malley. Other hilarious characters include George (Lily’s lover)\, Max (another ex-lover and producer) and a religious fanatic escaped from an institution.

SUMMARY:Seagull
DESCRIPTION:by ANTON CHEKHOV \nIn 1896\, on a lakeside estate outside Moscow\, an anxious young writer stages his experimental first play\, starring the young woman he adores. Among the audience are his mother\, an acclaimed actress\, and her lover\, a famous novelist. Their glamorous presence not only disrupts the performance\, but takes on a more profound significance for all present\, in a dramatic comedy about misplaced love and the artistic life. \n“Seagull” was the first of Chekhov’s four great plays which revolutionised the world of theatre. This brilliant new translation was first performed at London’s Arcola Theatre\, and starred Geraldine James as Arkadina. \nIndependent Theatre’s cast includes Rebecca Kemp\, Eddie Sims\, Eloise Quinn-Valentine and Patrick Marlin. \nNOTE: The Little Theatre – Adelaide University is a Double Vaccinated Venue. You will be required to provided proof of Vaccination on the day of performance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
