DESCRIPTION:This fast paced British farce concerns a con artist who has duped the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. Just when he decides to kill off many of the imaginary dole recipients because matters are getting a bit too risky\, welfare investigators show up. To outwit the investigators\, the con artist enlists help from one of his real lodgers and from his Uncle George. \nThere will be a video campaign to market the play.\nActors will be required to record pieces to camera and participate in a video trailer for marketing on social media. To ensure this amazing play has a full audience\, all cast members will be encouraged to share video clips on social media channels. Each actor will experience growth not only on stage\, but will be gain camera performing experience as well. \nAssistant Director Needed:\nThe director will lean heavily on the AD in this production. We require the AD to attend every rehearsal and to not only record blocking and prompt but to run the full rehearsal while the director works individually with cast members or on video marketing strategy. DESCRIPTION:The story of The Mikado revolves around a young fellow named Nanki-Poo who has banished himself from the little town of Titipu. Nanki-Poo\, it seems\, has fallen in love with a beautiful young lady called Yum-Yum. Unfortunately\, Yum-Yum is engaged to be married to her guardian\, the tailor Ko-Ko. \nHowever\, when Nanki-Poo hears that Ko-Ko has been condemned to death for the capital crime of flirting\, he hastily returns to Titipu\, only to learn that Ko-Ko has not only been granted a reprieve but has been promoted to the post of Lord High Executioner. \nApparently\, those in power\, wishing to slow down the rash of executions\, reason that since Ko-Ko was next in line for execution\, he can’t cut off anyone else’s head until he cuts off his own! \nThe Mikado\, however\, soon takes notice of the lack of executions in Titipu and decrees that if no executions take place within the time of one month\, the city shall be reduced to the status of a village. \nKo-Ko\, desperate to avoid cutting off his own head\, vows to find a substitute\, and as luck would have it\, just at that moment\, Nanki-Poo wanders onto the stage with a rope determined to take his own life rather than live life without his beloved Yum-Yum. \nKo-Ko immediately seizes on this opportunity and offers the young lad one month of luxurious living at the end of which he would be relatively painlessly decapitated. Soon after\, she meets her future husband and creative collaborator\, Gerry Goffin. In a musical whirlwind\, the couple are married\, King gives birth to their first child and the duo make a name for themselves in the music business\, knocking out hit after hit. However\, while their careers are on the rise\, Carole’s personal life falls apart when Gerry announces that he wants an affair. As Carole tries to negotiate marriage\, adultery and personal happiness\, she is supported by friends and playful rivals\, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann. SUMMARY:The Mikado
DESCRIPTION:The story of The Mikado revolves around a young fellow named Nanki-Poo who has banished himself from the little town of Titipu. Nanki-Poo\, it seems\, has fallen in love with a beautiful young lady called Yum-Yum. Unfortunately\, Yum-Yum is engaged to be married to her guardian\, the tailor Ko-Ko. \nHowever\, when Nanki-Poo hears that Ko-Ko has been condemned to death for the capital crime of flirting\, he hastily returns to Titipu\, only to learn that Ko-Ko has not only been granted a reprieve but has been promoted to the post of Lord High Executioner. \nApparently\, those in power\, wishing to slow down the rash of executions\, reason that since Ko-Ko was next in line for execution\, he can’t cut off anyone else’s head until he cuts off his own! \nThe Mikado\, however\, soon takes notice of the lack of executions in Titipu and decrees that if no executions take place within the time of one month\, the city shall be reduced to the status of a village. \nKo-Ko\, desperate to avoid cutting off his own head\, vows to find a substitute\, and as luck would have it\, just at that moment\, Nanki-Poo wanders onto the stage with a rope determined to take his own life rather than live life without his beloved Yum-Yum. \nKo-Ko immediately seizes on this opportunity and offers the young lad one month of luxurious living at the end of which he would be relatively painlessly decapitated. He also interacts directly with the audience in a few places. Needs to be able to sing and move.\n\n\nPrincess Jasmine\nF\n18 – 25\nThe female heroine role. Lives in the palace with her overbearing mother. Virtuous and beautiful but certainly not a pushover. Keeps her wits about her. Needs to be able to sing and dance\n\n\nWidow Twankey\nM\n40 – 60\nThe dame role played by a male. Aladdin and Wishee Washee’s mother. She runs a chinese laundry. Loud\, boisterous\, doesn’t suffer fools lightly. Always on the prowl for a new lover. Needs to be confident in interacting directly with the audience and throwing banter. Needs to sing and move.\n\n\nWishee Washee\nM\n20 – 30\nThe audiences friend. Works in the chinese laundry with his brother Aladdin and mother\, Widow Twankey. He is overly enthusiastic and energetic and easily builds a rapport with the audience. Needs to sing and move.\n\n\nAbanazer\nM\n30 – 60\nThe villain. A conniving and scheming Egyptian magician and sorceror\, who has a cohort of demons at his will. He elicits boos and hisses from the audience. Must be confident in interacting directly with the audience and bantering with them. Needs to sing and move.\n\n\nSpirit of the Ring\nF\n25 – 60\nA good sorceress. She is good and kind but has a lot of sass and is more down to earth than a traditional panto sorceress or fairy might be.\n\n\nPC Ping\nM or F\n20 – 40\nOne half of a bumbling pair of Policemen. Makes up part of the comic duo. Requires good comic timing and lots of energy. Needs to sing and move\n\n\nPC Pong\nM or F\n20 – 40\nThe other half of the bumbling pair of Policemen.
