SUMMARY:The Producers
DESCRIPTION:Bialystock & Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks’ sidesplitting satirical romp. Originally a cult classic comedy film in 1967\, then a 2001 smash-hit Broadway musical wowing audiences night after night (winning a record 12 Tony Awards!)\, and later adapted back to the big-screen in 2005\, The Producers is a crowd-favourite\, setting the standard for modern\, outrageous\, and in-your-face humour. The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck\, fading Broadway producer and his shy\, mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history (the gloriously offensive\, “Springtime for Hitler”)\, thereby bilking their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes wrong… the show is a wild success! \nFeaturing a side-splittingly hilarious book co-written by the incomparable Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan (of “Annie” fame)\, with music and lyrics also by Mel Brooks\, The Producers is an outrageously joyous show that skewers Broadway traditions\, takes no prisoners\, and proudly proclaims itself an “Equal Opportunity Offender”.

SUMMARY:A LOVE AFFAIR - Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Written By: JERRY MAYER\nDirector : Lesley Reed \nCan financial reversals ruin or even reinforce a marriage? What if you could talk to your younger self or\, indeed\, talk to your older self\, about what’s ahead or behind you on the rollercoaster of marriage? \nIt’s the early 1990s and like a lot of people of the time\, Alice and Jimmy Diamond have had a downward turn in their finances\, forcing them to move into a cramped condo. As they clear out the attic of their Malibu home they relive their marriage of 38 years. Their younger selves are often present\, allowing for poignant\, brutally honest and amusing insights into decades of love\, pain and laughter…with a sexy sprinkle of spice. Award-winning play. \n“Terrific. An illuminating look at a long-term marital relationship”-Hollywood Reporter. \nRoles available \nThere are five in the cast: 3 female (2 already cast)\, 2 male.\nRoles available at audition are: \n• Jimmy: Stage age early 20’s. Naïve and eager\, capable but disorganized. Leaves most things to wife Alice.\n• Jimmy II: Stage age around 60. Still disorganised\, still leaves most things to wife Alice. Now comically bitter and disillusioned.\n• Multiple female characters: played by one female actor\, age 30-35. Actor needs capacity to realistically portray different characters possibly varying in age\, from sexy actress to no-nonsense reporter. \nNote: Jimmy and Jimmy II must appear enough alike to be believable as the same person at different ages. \nAlice and Alice II ARE ALREADY CAST. \nAmerican accents are required for all roles. \nAudition venue \nPark Holme Community Hall\, 638 Marion Road\, PARK HOLME (corner Wallala Avenue & Marion Road) \nAudition dates/times \nA group audition will be held on Sunday 11 July 2021\, commencing at 1.30pm. Male auditionees need to be present at 1.30pm\, Females from 2.30 pm. \nAudition contact \nPlease contact Director Lesley Reed on 0448 511 145 or email lesleystage@hotmail.com to register for auditioning (state which role)\, so that numbers attending are known. Audition will include reading/moving excerpts from the play\, with relevant pages emailed to you once registered to audition. \nwww.galleon.org.au

SUMMARY:The Rivals
DESCRIPTION:Written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan\nDirected by Matthew Chapman\n\nThe Adelaide Repertory Theatre is excited to announce that we will be returning LIVE to the ARTS Theatre in December for a limited season of three performances. With only 460 tickets available for the season\, they are selling fast and will sell out! Tickets are $20 each and must be pre-booked.\n\nPlease note the earlier start time of 7pm!\nWe have a strict COVID management plan which we must adhere to. We ask that you sit in your assigned chequerboard seating\, keep physically distanced from one another\, use the provided hand sanitiser and do not attend the theatre if you are sick.\n\nAbout the play:\nIt’s 1775. A swashbuckling hero. A romantic beauty. A tortured lover. A damsel in distress. A jealous rival. A social-climbing aunt. A tyrannical father.\nAll are set to explode in a trip down to Bath\, in this beautiful comedy of manners…as in bad manners. Richard Brinsley Sheridan was England’s first celebrity playwright: controversy and excitement followed him everywhere. In The Rivals he turns to his infamous elopement with one Elizabeth Linely (in which Sheridan himself was disowned by his parents and made to fight three duels from jealous suitors and nearly resulted in his own death\, into a romp full of sparkling wit\, larger than life characters\, and…a pineapple?\n

SUMMARY:Twentieth Century
DESCRIPTION:By Ben Hecht & Charles MacArthur (2004 adaptation by Ken Ludwig). Broadway ballyhoo meets Hollywood hustle! This comedy is set on the luxury train\, The Twentieth Century Limited\, travelling from Chicago to New York’s Grand Central Station. Aboard are egomaniacal theatre producer Oscar Jaffe\, desperately in need of a hit show\, and his former paramour and protégé\, volatile actress Lily Garland\, who abandoned him for a Hollywood career. Oscar is determined to sign her for his new show. Lily is just as determined to ignore his advances\, professional and personal. Trying to make sense of the chaos are his long-time and long-suffering assistants Webb and O’Malley. Other hilarious characters include George (Lily’s lover)\, Max (another ex-lover and producer) and a religious fanatic escaped from an institution.
