SUMMARY:When We Dead Awaken - PREVIEW PERFORMANCE
DESCRIPTION:Published in 1899\, “When We Dead Awaken” is the final theatrical drama written by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. Set at a Norwegian spa during the wintertime\, the story is told in three acts\, and charts the existential ruminations of professor and famed sculptor Arnold Rubek as he reunites with his former muse\, Irene von Satow. Desperate to recapture the glory of his past inspirations\, Rubek must also reconcile his relationship with his estranged wife\, Maia. Often called one of Ibsen’s most confessional works\, the play touches on themes of despair\, mortality\, legacy\, nostalgia\, artistic expression\, petrification\, rekindled romances\, and ultimately\, the acceptance of death. Some scholars believe the play is a biographical blend of Ibsen’s own life with that of his contemporary\, Auguste Rodin.

SUMMARY:The Watsons
DESCRIPTION:A Jane Austen play you don’t know the ending to?\nThat’s all right\, neither did she. \nThe Watsons are in crisis. Cut off financially from her benefactor\, the youngest\, Emma\, returns to her dying father and spinster sisters with the task of finding a husband – and finding one now. Matchmakers\, match breakers\, cads\, stuffy clergymen and an overactive rumour mill all conspire as wedding bells ring in the distance and Emma eyes off a certain man… \n…and that’s where we leave it. See\, Jane Austen never finished the story. So it’s up to Emma\, with the help of modern-day Laura\, a jaded playwright with a rapidly approaching deadline\, to find her own happy ending… \nAnd that’s where the fun really begins.

SUMMARY:Come From Away
DESCRIPTION:Based on the events in the isolated Newfoundland town of Gander (pop. 10\,000) on the day and during the week following the September 11 attacks\, when 38 planes\, carrying approximately 7\,000 passengers\, were unexpectedly diverted to land at Gander Airport. The characters are based on real Gander residents and the stranded travellers they housed\, fed and supported. Uplifting\, funny\, sad by turns\, we promise you will love this show.

SUMMARY:The Watsons
DESCRIPTION:A Jane Austen play you don’t know the ending to?\nThat’s all right\, neither did she. \nTHE WATSONS\nWritten by Laura Wade\nDirected by Matthew Chapman \n1 – 10 August 2025\nLittle Theatre \nThe Watsons are in crisis. Cut off financially from her benefactor\, the youngest\, Emma\, returns to her dying father and spinster sisters with the task of finding a husband – and finding one now. Matchmakers\, match breakers\, cads\, stuffy clergymen and an overactive rumour mill all conspire as wedding bells ring in the distance and Emma eyes off a certain man… \n…and that’s where we leave it.\nSee\, Jane Austen never finished the story. So it’s up to Emma\, with the help of modern-day Laura\, a jaded playwright with a rapidly approaching deadline\, to find her own happy ending… \nAnd that’s where the fun really begins.

SUMMARY:Shakespeare in Hollywood
DESCRIPTION:The play revolves around the chaotic production of the 1935 movie of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ which starred Dick Powell\, Olivia de Havilland and James Cagney. \nIt’s 1934\, and Shakespeare’s most famous fairies\, Oberon and Puck\, have magically materialised on the set of a Warner Brothers movie\, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Smitten by the glitz and glamour of show biz\, the two are ushered onto the silver screen to play (who else?) themselves. \nWith a little help from a feisty flower\, a blonde bombshell and a movie mogul\, the results are raucous\, to say the least… \nIt’s a ‘don’t miss’ screwball comedy with supernatural elements. \nThis play is a fun-filled romp that pays homage to both Shakespeare and the golden age Hollywood. \nIt perfectly blends literary charm and cinematic spectacle\, offering plenty of laughs and entertainment.
