SUMMARY:The Vicar of Dibley
DESCRIPTION:A stage play by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter adapted from the original TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayher-Archer \nWith kind permission of Tiger Aspect Productions \nDirected by: Robert Andrews \nSynopsis \nWhen the new vicar arrives at the sleepy English village of Dibley\, the last thing the locals are expecting is a woman. But the irrepressibly cheerful Reverend Geraldine Granger soon wins over the hearts and minds of her flock. \nBased on the much-loved BBC sitcom\, this stage adaptation brings a selection of the best episodes of this multi-award-winning show to our theatre. \nAll of your favourites are here: Alice and Hugo\, the star-crossed lovers whose combined IQ would struggle to reach treble figures; the colonically-challenged farmer Owen; and Mr Horton\, the pompous chairman forever trying to make sense of his bizarre parish council. \nPerformances \nWednesday 12 October 2022 to Saturday 15 October 2022 at 8.00pm \nTuesday 18 October 2022 to Saturday 22 October 2022 at 8.00pm \nMatinee each Saturday at 2.30pm       Additional matinee Sunday 16 October at 2.30pm \nProduction Information \nThe Vicar of Dibley is split into two productions with same cast. \nThe Vicar Of Dibley \nStarts with Geraldine’s arrival and finishes with Hugo and Alice’s wedding. \nA Vicar Of Dibley Christmas – The Second Coming \nStarts with Hugo and Alice returning from Honeymoon to the birth of baby Geraldine at the Christmas Nativity. \nWe will be performing the first production in October 2022 and the second in October 2023. \nWhere possible we would like to have the same cast for both productions so would appreciate if you could commit to both productions. \nCharacters to be auditioned. \nThe characters of Reverend Geraldine Granger\, Frank Pickle and Jim Trott have been cast and will not be auditioned. \nDAVID HORTON. \nDavid is one of those people who enjoys being in charge and assumes he is: he might even be described as being a bit power-trippy. He’s a pompous\, Cambridge educated\, upper-class\, millionaire and although divorced\, an upholder of stern traditional family values especially his own. He longs for tradition\, law and order and the status quo. \nHUGO HORTON \nPoor Hugo is the veritable puppet of his controlling father. He was brought up only by David for the majority of his childhood\, and it becomes quickly apparent that that upbringing was emotionally abusive. He aims to avoid conflict\, and always aims to please\, and does not know how to express his feelings towards Alice. \nALICE TINKER \nAlice is a few sandwiches (and cakes\, and pork pies\, and sausage rolls…) short of a picnic. She has a heart of gold but doesn’t understand many of the common issues of life\, nor Geraldine’s jokes. She’s very sensitive and easily upset – but too thick and vague to be easily offended! More amusing and key to the plot of the show is the way she’s also easily confused\, and has a vivid imagination surrounding what’s normal (such as Teletubbie bridesmaids and pageboys. \nOWEN NEWITT \nOwen is the local farmer. He regularly suffers with gastric health complaints and describes these in disgustingly graphic detail. He’s a bachelor with broad tastes… he often hints at both desiring after and having had previous relationships with animals\, as well as women. Like many of the other male residents of the village\, he lusts after Geraldine \nLETITIA CROPLEY \nLetitia is a very caring lady who longs to provide nourishing refreshment and sustenance to her close friends and neighbours\, and ensures the  church is full of attractive flower arrangements during Sunday worship. \nThe problem is her creativity could be described as rather eccentric: her mourning flower arrangement included pineapple! Her palette is a bit odd too\, as she’s created countless dishes which require\, shall we say\, an acquired taste? Parsnip brownies are at the more tame end of her repertoire! The villagers fear her cooking but eat it out of courtesy; unfortunately this only spurs her on to further “gourmet” creations. Must be able to knit. \nWOMAN \nThe Woman has two lines at the end of the play and objects to Alice and Hugo getting married and then realises she is at the wrong wedding. \nIt is expected that the person playing this role will be a member of the stage crew. \nContact \nRobert Andrews \nE: robert.andrews@eklips.com.au \nP: 0412 060 989 (please do not call between 8.00am and 5.30pm due to work commitments)

SUMMARY:Wonderful World of DISSOCIA
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Anthony Neilson \nCreative Team: Directed by Thomas Filsell \n\nThe Wonderful World of Dissocia is an off-the-wall\, at times hilarious\, at times disturbing\, ultimately profoundly thought-provoking play\, featuring vivid\, unique and unforgettable characters\, and wondrous settings which contrast to a degree rarely seen in the theatre. Aside from being laugh-out-loud funny\, the play also has an important message to convey regarding mental health.\nDissocia tells the story of Lisa\, a young woman battling with a dissociative disorder. In order to regain ‘balance’ in her life\, Lisa must successfully navigate her way through Dissocia\, a fantastic wonderland full of surprises and weird\, wonderful\, and frightening inhabitants.\nAway from Dissocia\, life is very different. In Dissocia\, Lisa is the decider of her own fate. Back at home\, she’s not.\nThis is a riotous\, wonderful\, wild-ride of a play. As playwright Anthony Neilson said\, “If you like Alice in Wonderland but there’s not enough sex and violence in it\, then Dissocia is the show for you.” \nAge is not a big factor for casting\, but there are adult themes\, including violence\, implied off-stage sexual assault\, and use of ‘adult’ language\, so audiences and auditionees are advised to consider these potentially disturbing contents before attending auditions or performances. \nAUDITION BOOKED BY ONLINE APPOINTMENT ONLY\nAuditions are booked via https://www.trybooking.com/CBZLO \nEach individual audition will last 15 minutes.\nAfter booking an audition\, you will be emailed audition scenes. They are not compulsory to learn but please familiarise yourself with them. You will be asked to read additional scenes to gauge your suitability for other characters to be doubled. An audition form will also be provided.\nOn booking an audition slot\, please ensure you advise your correct phone number and email address.\nWe recommend you wear comfortable clothing and shoes\, and bring water.\nAny questions about audition bookings\, please email theatreguild@adelaide.edu.au. Any questions about the play/production (and NOT for booking auditions)\, the director can be contacted at fils0010@gmail.com.\nPlease be aware that everyone involved in a Theatre Guild show is required to be a member. Auditions are open to anyone but any roles offered will only be confirmed once you have become a member. Like Dot\, Vince is frustrated\, and has difficulty understanding why he’s being ‘mistreated.’ Another character caught between being empathetic and a prick. Must have both an imposing quality\, and a sensitivity to him. Stage age 25-35. SUMMARY:THE TEMPEST
DESCRIPTION:Written By: William Shakespeare \nCreative Team: Directed by Bronwyn Palmer \n\nA story of shipwreck and magic\, The Tempest begins on a ship caught in a violent storm with Alonso\, the King of Naples\, on board. On a nearby island\, the exiled Duke of Milan\, Prospero\, tells his daughter\, Miranda\, that he has caused the storm with his magical powers.\nProspero had been banished twelve years earlier when Prospero’s brother\, Antonio – also on the doomed ship – conspired with Alonso to become the Duke instead. Prospero and Miranda are served by a spirit named Ariel\, and by Caliban\, son of the island’s previous inhabitant\, the witch Sycorax.\nOn the island\, castaways from the wreck begin to appear. First is Alonso’s son\, Ferdinand\, who immediately falls in love with Miranda. Other castaways who appear are Trinculo and Stephano\, Alonso’s jester and butler respectively\, who join forces with Caliban to kill Prospero and take over the island. The nobles from the ship search for Ferdinand and are confronted with a spectacle including a Harpy\, who convinces Alonso that Ferdinand’s death is retribution for Prospero’s exile.\nHaving all his enemies under his control\, Prospero decides to forgive them. Alonso\, joyously reunited with his son\, restores Prospero to the dukedom of Milan and welcomes Miranda as Ferdinand’s wife. As all except Caliban and Ariel prepare to leave the island\, Prospero\, who has given up his magic\, bids farewell to the island and the audience. \n\n  \nAudition Information: http://www.trybooking.com/CCKRR \n\n\n\nRepeated Fieldset #:0\n\n\nDate:\n15/10/2022\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n09:00 – 17:00\n\n\nRepeated Fieldset #:1\n\n\nDate:\n16/10/2022\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n09:00 – 17:00\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nRepeated Fieldset #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nmany\n\n\nRepeated Fieldset #:2\n\n\nGender:\nUndefined\n\n\nRepeated Fieldset #:3\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRepeated Fieldset #:4\n\n\nRole Information:\nROLES AVAILABLE:\n(age and gender relevant only where specified)PROSPERO\, the former Duke of Milan\, now a magician on an island. SUMMARY:Only an Orphan Girl
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Henning Nelms \nDirected by Barry Hill \nSynopsis:  The Orphan Girl is a long-suffering young lady who seems destined not only to lose her lover but her life as well. The familiar characters of old-time melodrama here play their roles up to the hilt. The most thrilling scene is that in which dynamite (planted by the villain) is about to blow all the good characters to eternity. Just in time\, however\, Lucy picks up the dynamite and throws it out the door. \nOn reflection\, though\, it seems that the thrill just described is actually topped by the even more exciting scene in the sawmill\, where Nellie\, tied to a log\, is approaching the circular saw which in a moment will tear her to pieces. The hero\, who has been tied by the villain\, is freed just in time to thrust aside the latter who draws a pistol on him and threatens to kill him if he dares touch the lever that will save Nellie. The villain fires. The hero is wounded. SUMMARY:Kissing the Witch
DESCRIPTION:Production Title:\nKissing The Witch\n\n\nWritten By:\nEmma Donoghue\n\n\nProduction Type:\nDrama\n\n\nCreative Team:\nDirected by Imogen Deller-Evans\n\n\nAudition Booking Link:\nhttp://www.trybooking.com/CDBER\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDate:\n06/11/2022\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n10:00 – 18:00\n\n\nSynopsis:\nA rich tapestry of passion\, ambition\, and transformation\, Kissing The Witch allows women to reclaim the stories and identities that have been used against them for centuries. Five familiar tales – Beauty and the Beast\, Donkeyskin\, The Goose Girl\, The Little Mermaid\, and an enchanting new story – are seamlessly unspun and rewoven in unexpected ways. Women young and old tell their own stories of love\, lies\, and alliances – all with a determination to seize back the narrative. \nKissing The Witch challenges what we think we know of traditional tales of ‘good’ and ‘evil’. It explores the nuance in the fantastical\, and the sensual in the magical; it reclaims the power of the Witch. \nKissing The Witch was written by acclaimed Irish author and playwright Emma Donoghue\, best known for her novel Room. \n(Please be advised that this play contains coarse language and adult themes\, including attempted incest.)\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRole Name:\nFIRST woman\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n20s\n\n\nRole Information:\nPlays the Witch and other women\, sometimes the maidenly characters. SUMMARY:Home\, I'm Darling
DESCRIPTION:Following a sold out run at London’s National Theatre in 2018\, Laura Wade’s piercingly funny Olivier Award-winning play is about one woman’s quest to be the ideal 1950s housewife. Judy and Johnny are a little different and they love it. They’re 1950s enthusiasts who have taken role-playing to a whole new level: Johnny’s swapped meal prep and laundry for foot rubs and cocktail hour; Judy’s swapped jeans and a job for darning and dusting. \nIn a house complete with a perfect pastel bathroom\, mid-century knick knacks and good old fashioned home cooking\, the couple live out their ultimate\, nostalgic fantasy. But the 21st century has a nasty habit of forcing its way into their pristine bubble. Whether it’s in the form of Johnny’s new boss\, the contemporary cost of living on a ‘50s budget or Judy’s critical mother (who actually lived through the ‘50s)\, the present insists on being dealt with. Three females 30-40\, one 60. Two males 37\, 43. (Stage ages) \n
