SUMMARY:Breaking The Code
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Hugh Whitemore \nCreative Team: Director: Les Zetlein \n\nAlan Turing (1912-1954) was a brilliant logician\, mathematician and cryptanalyst who is mostly known for his wartime work in which he played a key role in breaking the German Enigma code (among others). However\, there is much more to this complex and conflicted man. Hugh Whitemore’s biographical play moves back and forwards in time\, covering his formative years\, his work at Cambridge University where he developed the idea of a computing machine that could do any task asked of it\, his time at the Government Code and Cipher School at Bletchley Park\, his personal life and loves\, and his fall from grace after the war when he fell foul of the law because of his naivety and inability to lie.\nTuring’s seminal work laid the foundation for today’s computers and artificial intelligence. Breaking the Code explores the human side of his life\, and how he broke the code—in more ways than one. \n\nAudition Information: https://www.trybooking.com/DITHV \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:1\n\n\nDate:\n21/02/2026\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n13:00 – 17:00\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nChristopher Morcom\n\n\nGender:\nMale\n\n\nStage Age:\n17\n\n\nRole Information:\nSchool friend of\, and inspiration to\, Alan Turing. SUMMARY:Low Pay Don't Pay
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Dario Fo \nCreative Team: Director: Larry Waller \n\nThis production reimagines Dario Fo’s Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay! as a fast\, funny\, political\, community-driven piece of popular theatre that speaks directly to a 2026 Australian audience experiencing the pressures of rising costs\, economic strain\, and social inequity. While the play is set in Italy\, our version is modern South Australia\, and although comic and chaotic\, it remains anchored in real human struggle. The humour emerges from truthful desperation\, not caricature. \nThis is a show about people trying to survive — and laughing in order not to cry.\nLow Pay Don’t Pay is a bold\, joyful\, and sharply political ensemble comedy that places actors\, audience\, and action in constant relationship. This immersive production celebrates the play’s greatest strengths: its relentless physicality\, rapid-fire farce\, and deeply human heart. Performed in the round\, the audience becomes part of the pressure cooker. There is nowhere to hide. \nOur vision is to create a piece of theatre that is fierce\, funny and alive. If you are committed to having fun\, working hard and holding a mirror up to present day Australia and exploring / improvising / workshopping theatre\, this is a production for you! \n\nInformation Session: 14/02/2026\nBlackwood Memorial Hall \n\nAudition Information: \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:1\n\n\nDate:\n28/02/2026\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n13:00 – 15:30\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nEnsemble (16 sought)\n\n\nGender:\nUndefined\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nWe are seeking 16 Ensemble members for this production. SUMMARY:What is the Matter with Mary Jane
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Wendy Harmer and Sancia Robinson \nCreative Team: Larry Waller \n\n‘What Is the Matter with Mary Jane’ is a powerful and intimate one-woman play that follows a young woman navigating an eating disorder. Through humour\, honesty\, and vulnerability\, the play explores how pressure\, control\, silence\, and societal expectations around food and body image affect mental and physical health.\nFor this community production\, the original monologue will be reimagined and shared between three actors\, allowing Mary Jane’s internal world to be expressed through multiple voices and perspectives. This ensemble approach supports collaboration\, shared storytelling\, and accessibility\, while maintaining the integrity and emotional impact of the work.\nThe production will be presented as part of a mid-year One-Act Play Festival at the Marion Domain Theatre. \n\nInformation Session: \n\nAudition Information: \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:1\n\n\nDate:\n14/03/2026\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n13:00 – 15:00\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nSancia\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n25\n\n\nRole Information:\nThis play includes themes and references related to:\n• Eating disorders\n• Disordered eating behaviours\n• Body image and societal pressure\n• Mental health distress\n\n\n\n\nMore Information at: https://stjudesplayers.asn.au/whats-on/auditions/\nAuditions will be conducted in a group format.
