SUMMARY:Vintage Hitchcock - A Live Radio Play
DESCRIPTION:Synopsis\nMurder\, mayhem and nostalgia collide in Vintage Hitchcock: A live radio play. A retelling of three of Alfred Hitchcock’s most famous stories — The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927)\, Sabotage (1936)\, and The 39 Steps (1935)— in the style of an old-time radio broadcast. Complete with sound effects and vintage commercials\, all performed live onstage\, it will take you back to the 1940’s\, and\, as it’s narrator announces eerily at the beginning\, will ‘put murder back in the home- where it belongs’. So\, relax\, lean back and enjoy yourself – until the coroner comes… \nThe Lodger; a serial killer known as ‘The Avenger’ is stalking the streets of London in 1888. Have Mr and Mrs Bunting unwittingly taken as a lodger the very same man? And what will happen to their beautiful daughter Daisy\, who is the very type of girl that the Avenger chooses to target… \nSabotage; Mr Anton Verloc owns a cinema in the heart of London with his American wife\, Winnie and her teenage brother\, but this is just a cover for his terrorist activities. Will the police discover his secret before his most daring plan is put into action? \nThe 39 steps; Richard Hannay becomes embroiled in an international spy ring known only as ‘The 39 Steps’. Murder soon follows\, and after a case of mistaken identity he must elude the police. Together with his unwilling accomplice\, Pamela\, he must clear his name and stop British secrets being sent abroad. \nPerformances\nWednesday 2nd to Saturday 5th October at 8.00pm Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th October at 8.00pm Matinee each Saturday at 2.30pm \nCast\nVintage Hitchcock: A live radio play has over 60 speaking parts\, with all actors required to voice multiple roles and perform sound effects live on stage. Have you ever wanted to play a dashing hero\, the devious villain\, the damsel in distress or the nosy neighbour? Well\, this is your chance to do it all! The ability to speak dialects (particularly English variations) is a plus\, but not a must. What you must be is energetic\, vocally flexible and willing to work in a group. The ensemble cast will serve as voice actors and Foley artists performing multiple parts with scripts in hand\, just as you would for a traditional radio broadcast. We need the classic BBC presenter voice\, Cockney\, American\, English with a European accent and an epic scream! We even need jingle singers! Bring your best voices and your enthusiasm and show us what you can do. \nNotes: Auditions will be a cold reading in groups. You will be required to read at least 2 roles (with different voices) and demonstrate the ability to insert a sound effect on cue as required in the script (necessary properties will be demonstrated and supplied). If you have any special talents (musical\, sound effect\, voices) please let us know as we would love to utilise existing talents. \nAudition Details\nLocation: \nTea Tree Players Theatre\nGate One\, Tilley Recreational Park\nCorner of Yatala Vale and Hancock Roads\, Surrey Downs 5126 \nTime:\nMonday 17th June 2019 at 7:30pm\nWednesday 19th June 2019 at 7:30pm \nNotes: \nContact\nSelena Carr\n(e) selenahcarr@gmail.com\n(p) 0402 283 089

SUMMARY:Going Postal
DESCRIPTION:AUDITIONS: – Sunday 30th June at 3pm.\nBakehouse Theatre\, 255 Angas Street\, Adelaide. \nFORMAT:\nAuditions are conducted in groups\, doing a “cold” read from excerpts of the script. You do NOT need to make a specific individual appointment\, but you do need to show up ON TIME.\nIt is not a requirement\, but you may find it useful to familiarise yourself with the book\, or with any other works from Terry Pratchett. It will help you get a feel for the show.\nIf\, after the group reading you would like the Director to see an individual monologue from you\, please let us know when you come in to auditions. Monologues should be no longer than 1min. \nPERFORMANCE DATES: Nov. 20\, 21\, 22\, 23\, 27\, 28\, 29\, 30. \nREHEARSALS: \nWe are trying an exciting new way of working by auditioning early and then getting actors to learn their lines before “real” rehearsals start. \nInitial rehearsals:   July 14th & 21st. (reading & character discussion)\nThen a break during which actors should learn their lines.\nRehearsals then continue on Tues\, Thurs and Sunday from September 1st.\nIf you are successful in your audition a full rehearsal schedule will be given out. \nPLEASE REGISTER YOUR INTEREST BY EMAIL\n(so that we know how many numbers to expect) \nABOUT THE SHOW: \nMoist von Lipwig is a con artist\, a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged\, or put Ankh-Morpork’s ailing postal service back on its feet. It is a tough decision. \nWith the help of a golem who has been at the bottom of a hole in the ground for over two hundred years\, a pin fanatic and Junior Postman Groat\, he’s got to see that the mail gets through. In taking on the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore Company and a midnight killer\, he’s also got to stay alive.\nGetting a date with Adora Belle Dearheart would be nice\, too. \nIn the mad world of the mail\, can a criminal succeed where honest men have failed and died?\nPerhaps there’s a shot at redemption for a man who’s prepared to push the envelope…. \nCREW ROLES:\nIf you are not interested in acting but would like to help backstage or on FOH\, please attend at the audition time and have a chat to our Stage Manager\, Andrew Zeuner. He would LOVE to hear from you. \nACTING ROLES AVAILABLE:\nMany and varied – too many to list here\, but you need to be prepared to accept any role/roles you are offered. This is all part of the fun in a Pratchett show.

SUMMARY:Cash on delivery
DESCRIPTION:This fast paced British farce concerns a con artist who has duped the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. Just when he decides to kill off many of the imaginary dole recipients because matters are getting a bit too risky\, welfare investigators show up. To outwit the investigators\, the con artist enlists help from one of his real lodgers and from his Uncle George. \nThere will be a video campaign to market the play.\nActors will be required to record pieces to camera and participate in a video trailer for marketing on social media. To ensure this amazing play has a full audience\, all cast members will be encouraged to share video clips on social media channels. Each actor will experience growth not only on stage\, but will be gain camera performing experience as well. \nAssistant Director Needed:\nThe director will lean heavily on the AD in this production. We require the AD to attend every rehearsal and to not only record blocking and prompt but to run the full rehearsal while the director works individually with cast members or on video marketing strategy. SUMMARY:The Mikado
DESCRIPTION:The story of The Mikado revolves around a young fellow named Nanki-Poo who has banished himself from the little town of Titipu. Misfit Veronica Sawyer\, who hustles her way into this teenage power trifecta\, discovers that life in the Teflon crowd isn’t all that it seems. Nanki-Poo agrees on the condition that he be married to Yum-Yum right away so that he can spend his last month in wedded bliss. \nBut just as the wedding celebration begins\, a law is discovered\, much to Yum-Yum’s distress\, which decrees that a condemned man’s wife must be buried alive with his corpse! \n\nWritten By: Gilbert & Sullivan\nDirector Nathan Quadrio\nMD Monique Warren \nInformation available in info pack after information night\nInformation night at: TIDC Performing Arts Studio \nMore information will be available after the information night \n  \n\n\n\nRole Name\nGender\nStage Age\nRole Information\nRange\n\n\nMikado\nMale\nOlder\nMikado of Japan\nBass\n\n\nNanki-Poo\nMale\nYoung\nHis son disguised as a wandering minstrel\nTenor\n\n\nKo-Ko\nMale\nOlder\nThe Lord High Executioner of Titipu\nBaritone\n\n\nPoo-Bah\nMale\nOlder\nLord High Everything else\nBaritone\n\n\nYum-Yum\nFemale\nYoung\nA ward of Ko-Ko\nSoprano\n\n\nPitti-Sing\nFemale\nYoung\nA ward of Ko-Ko\nMezzo-Soprano\n\n\nPeep-Bo\nFemale\nYoung\nA ward of Ko-Ko\nMezzo-Soprano\n\n\nKatasha\nFemale\nOlder\nAn elderly lady in love with Nanki-Poo\nContralto\n\n\nChorus of schoolgirls\, Nobles\, Guards and servants\nUndefined\nVaried\nVaried\nAny Range\n\n\n\n  \n  \n\n\n\nAudition Contact Name\nNathan Quadrio\n\n\nAudition Contact Email\nthe4river@gmail.com\n\n\n\nAuditions will be on Sunday 21st July from 8.30 for registration and group auditions\, then by appointment after that. \nLocation for auditions is the Parks Theatres

SUMMARY:Heathers
DESCRIPTION:This event is for anyone who wishes to be involved in Zest’s next major production – “Heathers the Musical”. We will provide information about the show\, characters\, rehearsal dates\, performance dates and audition details. Come along to register your interest in being involved both on and off stage. As this musical contains adult themes\, you must be 13 to be involved and 15 to audition. If you are under 18\, you will also require parental permission to be involved. There are roles for teenagers/young adults – mature adults. \nZest Theatre Group’s mission statement is \n\nTo encourage and nurture new talent\nTo mix those with experience with those looking for a beginning\nTo develop the ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage\n\nBased on the cult classic 1989 film\, this darkly delicious satire is a rowdy\, guilty-pleasure musical which takes an unflinching look at the joy and anguish of high school. Westerberg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded\, scrunchie-wearing posse: Heather\, Heather\, and Heather\, the hottest and cruellest girls in all of Ohio. Misfit Veronica Sawyer\, who hustles her way into this teenage power trifecta\, discovers that life in the Teflon crowd isn’t all that it seems. All bets are off when a darkly delicious stranger\, JD\, plans to put the Heathers in their place — six feet under. Heathers explores\, with biting satire\, empowerment and vulnerability in the relationships between friends\, lovers\, parents\, and school communities\, creating a show of high emotion. \nBrought to you by the award-winning creative team of Kevin Murphy (“Reefer Madness”\, “Desperate Housewives”)\, Laurence O’Keefe (“Bat Boy”\, “Legally Blonde”) and Andy Fickman (“Reefer Madness”\, “She’s the Man”). “Heathers The Musical” is a hilarious\, heartfelt and homicidal new show based on the greatest teen comedy of all time. SUMMARY:STAGE KISS
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Sarah Ruhl\nDirector Sally Putnam \nArt imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama\, they quickly lose touch with reality. \nAfter a decade-long hiatus from the stage\, an actress (referred to as “She” in the script) is set to make her comeback in the 1930s melodrama The Last Kiss as doomed heroine Ada Wilcox.  Despite having the support of her husband Harrison and her daughter Angela\, her world turns upside down when she finds that the role of her character’s ex-lover (with whom Ada reginties a passionate love affair) will be played by none other than her own ex-lover (referred to as “He” in the script).  Forced into close proximity with he – and his lips – the lines between She and her character  begin to blur.  On top of their inexorable attraction to each other\, She and He must also contend with  a panoply of theatrical challenges\, including a broken ankle\, a slippery script\, a director who implores  them to “trust your instincts”\, and an understudy who kisses like a pachoderm.  Still\, on opening night\, thrilled by their apparently successful show\, She and he lose sight of reality entirely.  The acted and the actual become one and the same and the two chracters decide to re-consummate their stormy relationship. \nAct Two opens after The Last Kiss has closed.  Despite the production’s terrible reviews\, She and He have blissfully continued their affair\, and are holed up at He’s apartment in New York City.  That is\, until Harrison\, Angela and He’s girlfriend Laurie show up to confront them.  Afterwards\, having severed ties with their loved ones in order to stay together\, the pair decides to star in a new play directed and written by the same director as The Last Kiss.  Forced to move to Detroit and to act in a production set in the seventies about an undercover IRA agent and an ageing prostitute who wants to become an opthalmologist\, She and He begin the same downward spiral that ended their first relationship.  As art and life begin to seprate\, the characters look at each other with newly clear eyes – an act that radically changes their conceptions of themselves\, their desires\, and their relationships. \n\nAudition dates/times A group audition will be held Sunday 4 August 2019 at 2.00pm.\nAuditions will be held at Park Holme Community Hall\, 683 Marion Road Park Holme (corner Wallala Avenue & Marion Road). \nAudition contact\nFor further information about the play and to register your interest in auditions\, please contact the director Sally Putnam by email shputnam@gmail.com making sure to provide your contact telephone number \nRehearsal day/times/ venue\n– Tuesdays & Thursdays 7.00-10.00pm\, Sundays 1.30-5.30pm\n– First rehearsal Sunday 15 March 2020\, or thereabouts\n– Park Holme Community Hall\, 638 Marion Road\, PARK HOLME (corner Wallala Avenue & Marion Road) \nDates/Times of performances\nThurs 28\, Fri 29\, Sat 30 May 2020 @ 8pm\nThurs 4\, Fri 5\, Sat 6 June 2020 @ 8pm\nMatinee: Sat 6 June 2019 @ 2pm \nPerformance venue\nDomain Theatre\, Marion Cultural Centre\n287 Diagonal Road\, OAKLANDS PARK SA 5046 \n\n\n\nRole Name\nGender\nStage Age\nRole Information\n\n\nShe\nFemale\nStage age flexible\, approx. 40s\nPlays the role of Ada Wilcox.  Mother of Angela\, wife of Harrison.\n\n\nHe\nMale\nStage age flexible\, approx. 40s\nPlays the role of Johnny Lowell.\n\n\nDirector\nMale\nFlexible\nPlays the role of Adrian Schwalbach\n\n\nKevin/Butler/Doctor/Pimp\nMale\nFlexible\nPlays four roles\n\n\nHusband/Harrison\nMale\nFlexible\nPlays two roles\n\n\nAngela/Maid/Millie\nFemale\nThe actor playing this role will likely be in her early 20s who can believably play a teenager.\nPlays Millie and the Maid in Act 1; Angela in Act 2.\n\n\nMillicent/Laurie\nFemale\nlate 20s-early 30s\nPlays Millicent in Act 1; Laurie in Act 2.\n\n\nAccompanist\nUndefined\nunimportant\nThe actor playing this role will be able to play the piano.\n\n\n\n

At the séance\, she inadvertently summons Charles’s first wife\, Elvira\, who has been dead for seven years. Only Charles can see or hear Elvira. The ghostly Elvira makes continued\, and increasingly desperate\, efforts to disrupt Charles’s current marriage. She finally sabotages his car in the hope of killing him so that he will join her in the spirit world\, but it is Ruth rather than Charles who drives off and is killed. \nRuth’s ghost immediately comes back for revenge on Elvira\, and Charles calls Madame Arcati back to exorcise both of the spirits\, but instead of banishing them she unintentionally materialises Ruth. With both his dead wives now fully visible\, and neither of them in the best of tempers\, Charles\, together with Madame Arcati\, goes through séance after séance and spell after spell to try to exorcise them. It is not until Madame Arcati works out that the housemaid\, Edith\, is psychic and had unwittingly been the conduit through which Elvira was summoned that she succeeds in dematerialising both ghosts. Charles is left seemingly in peace\, but Madame Arcati\, hinting that the ghosts may still be around unseen\, warns him that he should go far away as soon as possible. \nROLES AVAILABLE:\n(Please note that the roles of Madame Arcati\, Charles Condomine\, Ruth Condomine and Elvira have been pre-cast). \nAll ages given are general stage ages. SUMMARY:“THAT’S NOT HOW I REMEMBER IT” & “ORANGE IS THE NEW GLASS”
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Don Zolidis\nDirected By: Alicia Zorkovic & Michelle Nightingale \n“That’s Not How I Remember It”\nMum and Dad love to tell the story of how they met in 1986 — “pretty much the most awesome year ever.” Trouble is\, they remember their courtship completely differently. Mum’s version makes their meeting sound like a sappy romantic comedy while Dad somehow makes himself the star of a karate battle. This tubular one-act is a crazy homage to bad 80s movies and the inadequacies of memory. \nPLUS \n“Orange is the New Glass”\nIn a fairy-tale kingdom obsessed with pop culture and social media\, fairy godmothers are lawyers and the Three Little Pig-arazzi chase celebrities. But when Cinderella leaves her self-absorbed prince and winds up in jail with an unlikely girl squad\, she doesn’t just cause a sensation–she starts a revolution. A warmhearted comedy full of clever characters. \nPlease visit our website and download the Audition Information Pack before booking an audition spot. Please contact us if you have any questions about the production. Thanks \n\n\n\nRole Name\nGender\nStage Age\nRole Information\n\n\nVarious\nUndefined\nAll actors to be aged 9-21\nMany roles to choose from over two plays\n\n\n\n
