We are introduced to Carole when she is 16 and pitching her first song (“It Might As Well Rain Until September”) to New York music producer Don Kirshner. Soon after\, she meets her future husband and creative collaborator\, Gerry Goffin. In a musical whirlwind\, the couple are married\, King gives birth to their first child and the duo make a name for themselves in the music business\, knocking out hit after hit. However\, while their careers are on the rise\, Carole’s personal life falls apart when Gerry announces that he wants an affair. As Carole tries to negotiate marriage\, adultery and personal happiness\, she is supported by friends and playful rivals\, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann. Although they all compete for number one hits on the pop chart\, Carole relies on their support to change her life and find her own voice. Set in the vibrant pop industry of the 1960s and early 1970s\, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical features a tapestry of musical hits from the creative song writing teams of King and Goffin\, Weil and Mann. \nPRODUCTION TEAM\nDirector:                     David Gauci\nMusical Director:       Peter Johns\nChoreographer:       Shenayde Wilkinson – Sarti \nFull details\, dialogue sides/ music\, character information and registration for audition can be found at www.davineproductions.com/beautiful

SUMMARY:The Mikado
DESCRIPTION:The story of The Mikado revolves around a young fellow named Nanki-Poo who has banished himself from the little town of Titipu. Nanki-Poo\, it seems\, has fallen in love with a beautiful young lady called Yum-Yum. Unfortunately\, Yum-Yum is engaged to be married to her guardian\, the tailor Ko-Ko. \nHowever\, when Nanki-Poo hears that Ko-Ko has been condemned to death for the capital crime of flirting\, he hastily returns to Titipu\, only to learn that Ko-Ko has not only been granted a reprieve but has been promoted to the post of Lord High Executioner. \nApparently\, those in power\, wishing to slow down the rash of executions\, reason that since Ko-Ko was next in line for execution\, he can’t cut off anyone else’s head until he cuts off his own! \nThe Mikado\, however\, soon takes notice of the lack of executions in Titipu and decrees that if no executions take place within the time of one month\, the city shall be reduced to the status of a village. \nKo-Ko\, desperate to avoid cutting off his own head\, vows to find a substitute\, and as luck would have it\, just at that moment\, Nanki-Poo wanders onto the stage with a rope determined to take his own life rather than live life without his beloved Yum-Yum. \nKo-Ko immediately seizes on this opportunity and offers the young lad one month of luxurious living at the end of which he would be relatively painlessly decapitated. Nanki-Poo agrees on the condition that he be married to Yum-Yum right away so that he can spend his last month in wedded bliss. \nBut just as the wedding celebration begins\, a law is discovered\, much to Yum-Yum’s distress\, which decrees that a condemned man’s wife must be buried alive with his corpse! \n\nWritten By: Gilbert & Sullivan\nDirector Nathan Quadrio\nMD Monique Warren \nInformation available in info pack after information night\nInformation night at: TIDC Performing Arts Studio \nMore information will be available after the information night \n  \n\n\n\nRole Name\nGender\nStage Age\nRole Information\nRange\n\n\nMikado\nMale\nOlder\nMikado of Japan\nBass\n\n\nNanki-Poo\nMale\nYoung\nHis son disguised as a wandering minstrel\nTenor\n\n\nKo-Ko\nMale\nOlder\nThe Lord High Executioner of Titipu\nBaritone\n\n\nPoo-Bah\nMale\nOlder\nLord High Everything else\nBaritone\n\n\nYum-Yum\nFemale\nYoung\nA ward of Ko-Ko\nSoprano\n\n\nPitti-Sing\nFemale\nYoung\nA ward of Ko-Ko\nMezzo-Soprano\n\n\nPeep-Bo\nFemale\nYoung\nA ward of Ko-Ko\nMezzo-Soprano\n\n\nKatasha\nFemale\nOlder\nAn elderly lady in love with Nanki-Poo\nContralto\n\n\nChorus of schoolgirls\, Nobles\, Guards and servants\nUndefined\nVaried\nVaried\nAny Range\n\n\n\n  \n  \n\n\n\nAudition Contact Name\nNathan Quadrio\n\n\nAudition Contact Email\nthe4river@gmail.com\n\n\n\nAuditions will be on Sunday 21st July from 8.30 for registration and group auditions\, then by appointment after that. \nLocation for auditions is the Parks Theatres
