SUMMARY:NAUGHTY MARIETTA
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Music adapted and arranged by RONALD HANMER from VICTOR HERBERT’s original\, Book revised and adapted by PHIL PARK from Rida Johnson Young’s lyrics. \nCreative Team: Director – Tegan Muller\nMusical Director – John Wilson \n\nSet in 1780s New Orleans\, Naughty Marietta\, the Contessa d’Altena\, flees an arranged marriage by disguising herself as a casquette girl (a young woman sent to New Orleans to marry colonists). \nShe arrives in New Orleans and meets Captain Richard Warrington\, an American frontiersman tasked with capturing the pirate Bras Piqué\, who is secretly Étienne Grandet\, the son of the corrupt lieutenant governor. \nMarietta insists she’ll only marry the man who can complete a melody she heard in a dream – a romantic motif that drives the plot – with the musical inspiration of Victor Herbert… \nMusical numbers including “Tramp tramp tramp”\, “Zing Zing”\, “Falling in Love with Someone” and “Live for Today” are sure to get the toes tapping and bring back some memories for many in our audiences. \n\nInformation Session: 09/03/2026\n7.30pm\, at St Elizabeth Church Hall\, Dwyer Ave\, Oaklands Park \n\nAudition Information: At Information Night – phone Pam 8294 6582 \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:1\n\n\nDate:\n16/03/2026\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n19:00 – 23:59\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nMARIETTA\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n\n\n\nRole Information:\nYoung\, pretty\, gay\, wayward and irrepressible. SUMMARY:What is the Matter with Mary Jane
DESCRIPTION:Written By: Wendy Harmer and Sancia Robinson \nCreative Team: Larry Waller \n\n‘What Is the Matter with Mary Jane’ is a powerful and intimate one-woman play that follows a young woman navigating an eating disorder. Through humour\, honesty\, and vulnerability\, the play explores how pressure\, control\, silence\, and societal expectations around food and body image affect mental and physical health.\nFor this community production\, the original monologue will be reimagined and shared between three actors\, allowing Mary Jane’s internal world to be expressed through multiple voices and perspectives. This ensemble approach supports collaboration\, shared storytelling\, and accessibility\, while maintaining the integrity and emotional impact of the work.\nThe production will be presented as part of a mid-year One-Act Play Festival at the Marion Domain Theatre. \n\nInformation Session: \n\nAudition Information: \n\n\n\nAudition Information #:1\n\n\nDate:\n14/03/2026\n\n\nTime From – Time to:\n13:00 – 15:00\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCharacter Descriptions #:1\n\n\nRole Name:\nSancia\n\n\nGender:\nFemale\n\n\nStage Age:\n25\n\n\nRole Information:\nThis play includes themes and references related to:\n• Eating disorders\n• Disordered eating behaviours\n• Body image and societal pressure\n• Mental health distress\n\n\n\n\nMore Information at: https://stjudesplayers.asn.au/whats-on/auditions/\nAuditions will be conducted in a group format.
